The Rhode Island Foundation is a dynamic, fast-paced organization of 43 dedicated staff members governed by a distinguished 15-member board of directors. Established in 1916, we are among the oldest and largest community foundations in the nation. We also are Rhode Island’s largest and most comprehensive funder of nonprofit organizations. Our vision is to create positive change in Rhode Island by inspiring philanthropy and taking a leadership role in working with partners –individual philanthropists, business, community, and government leaders –to address the state’s most pressing issues and the needs of its diverse communities. In 2010 our grantmaking exceeded $29.2 million.
