Equity Action is Rhode Island's fund for sexual orientation and gender identity. As a permanent endowment at the Foundation, Equity Action advances the equitable treatment and improves the quality of life of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) Rhode Islanders. Led by an advisory council of committed volunteers, Equity Action provides grants to organizations and initiatives that support LGBTQ Rhode Islanders. In 2008, Equity Action launched the Million Dollar Challenge Campaign, an effort to raise $500,000. Every dollar raised will be matched by the Foundation. The fund will continue to grow in perpetuity, supporting Rhode Island’s LGBTQ communities for generations to come.
Nonprofit organizations that improve the quality of life of LGBTQ Rhode Islanders are encouraged to apply for a Project and Capacity-Building Grant from Equity Action. Application deadline is April 15. Please note there no longer is a fall deadline for this program; apply now.
Thank you Clad in, the women's clothing and accessories store in Wayland Square, for hosting a holiday party and giving a portion of the evening's proceeds to Equity Action. And a special thank you to everyone who supported the event!
