Fall 2017

Foundation Focus

CONNECTING WITH GRANTEES, DONORS

A day in Newport County

We enjoyed a day in Newport County this summer, announcing more than $270,000 in grants from our Newport County Fund, getting an inside look at the work being done at two of our grantees, and meeting with donors.

HEALTHY LIVES

Grants will improve health care services

Awards totaling more than $270,000 were granted from our RIGHA Foundation Fund to Clinica Esperanza, Crossroads Rhode Island, Rhode Island Free Clinic, South County Health, and Thundermist Health Center.

BUILDING COMMUNITY

The path to citizenship

We've made a $150,000 investment to expand the capacity of the Rhode Island Immigration Consortium, allowing the three organizations - Dorcas International Institute of Rhode Island, Progreso Latino, and the Roman Catholic Diocese - to assist more people and process more immigration cases.

EDUCATIONAL SUCCESS

Scholars bring Roger Williams' ideals to life

We're sending six recent high school graduates off to college sharing $100,000 in scholarships honoring Roger Williams, the state's founding father. The four-year, renewable scholarships were conceived of and are funded by philanthropists Letitia and John Carter.

INSPIRING PHILANTHROPY

Alice Hall Allen, Class of 1935 Scholarship Fund

This scholarship fund will provide graduates of Cranston High School East with an experience its namesake never had, the opportunity to attain a baccalaureate or advanced degree.

THE PEOPLE'S PARK

Campaign for Roger Williams Park

We thank the scores of donors to our Campaign for Roger Williams Park whose support can be seen throughout the Park, from new signage to major renovations at the Museum of Natural History & Planetarium and the Bandstand. We hope you'll visit soon.

CELEBRATING COMMUNITY

RWP Pops

More than 7,000 people joined us on a beautiful summer evening at Roger Williams Park for a wonderful celebration of community - a free concert by the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra.

STRENGTHENING CONNECTIONS

Grants build community throughout RI

We're funding community-building activities across the state, with projects ranging from creating performance spaces and urban farms to restoring playgrounds and historic parks.
