Gifts Administrator

The Rhode Island Foundation is the largest and most comprehensive funder of nonprofit organizations in Rhode Island. The Foundation is currently seeking a Gifts Administrator to be responsible for the accurate, timely, and efficient processing and acknowledgement of gifts and donations to the Foundation.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the verification of gift entry and preparation of gift acknowledgements. Execute specific tasks in this area as needed including reporting and posting gifts in FIMS database.
  • Accurately compile and deposit checks and other monies received as gifts/donations to the Foundation. Reconcile all donations on a daily basis.
  • Process, track, acknowledge, and report on third party gifts, including creating honor and memorial cards.
  • Professionally handle incoming calls; effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including staff, donors, prospects, and grantees. Some interactions may involve more complex issues and direct communication with significant donors, prospects, their advisors, and other referral sources.

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a professional office setting with customer contact. Accounting or financial services experience preferred. Comfort with technology tools and resources including data entry, reporting, and document preparation, and proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook is required. Familiarity with Blackbaud, FIMS, and IGAM is preferred; onsite training is available for these systems. Good verbal and written communication skills, excellent customer service skills, attention to detail in monitoring work quality and accuracy, adaptability, and cooperative approach to working as a member of a team in a fast paced environment.
