The Rhode Island Association of Former Legislators Scholarship Fund was established in 1996 to provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are Rhode Island residents and have distinguished themselves with outstanding public service.

Qualified candidates “must have volunteered significant time and effort to community services in some capacity - to civic, religious, non-profit, or other organizations - with thought only to enriching their communities."

This year's recipients are Kendra Cimaglia of Johnston, Ryan Curtis of Coventry, Victoria Dorgan of Cranston, Megan Elwell of Little Compton, Jocelyn Foraker of Hope Valley, Kelvis Hernandez of Providence, Bryeshia Jennings of Cranston (unable to attend the event), and Hector Perea of Providence.

Since the fund was established it has provided 93 scholarships totaling $122,000.
