Rhody Ramble makes history fun for families
By Chris Barnett / September 16, 2016 /   Loading Disqus...

Now is a wonderful time to check out the Rhody Ramble, which features a slew of activities that connect families with authentic local places and events like outdoor festivals, music concerts, hands-on activities, story times, and walking tours.

Now in its fourth year, the program features a calendar filled with events, tours, and programs designed for children and their families at 29 historic places, including Casey Farm’s Nature Walks in North Kingstown, the Great Road Day in Lincoln and Harvest Fair in Bristol.

Over the years, we have awarded the Ramble more than $126,000. Our funding gives families diverse opportunities to engage in hands-on experiences together and supports a much-needed effort to promote the state’s historic sites in order to build and strengthen current and future audiences.

Led by cartoon mascot Rhody the Rooster, the Ramble helps families connect with historic Rhode Island places – from oceanfront mansions to historic farms – and enjoy fun, low cost events in their community.

Rhody Ramble has been developed with an audience-first approach that considers the best ways to engage family visitors, and then collects appropriate events and tours from participating sites. All the participating sites are members of the Historic Sites Coalition of Rhode Island, led by statewide advocate Preserve Rhode Island.
