Ricky Bogert has been named a grants program officer, where he will oversee special grant programs such as the Juanita Sánchez Community Fund and the Program for the Blind and provide support in the economic security and environment sectors.

Most recently, Bogert was donor services associate at the Foundation, where he managed a portfolio of dozens of scholarship and special funds and oversaw special projects, including the Civic Leadership Fund.

The Providence resident earned a BS in business administration at the University of Connecticut and is pursuing his MBA at the University of Rhode Island.

Bogert’s promotion comes as the Foundation marks its 100th anniversary. Founded on June 13, 1916, with a $10,000 gift from industrialist Jesse Metcalf, the Foundation’s assets have grown to nearly $800 million. Over the past five years, the Foundation has awarded more than $165 million in grants.

The centerpiece of the Foundation’s Centennial celebration is a $10 million campaign to restore Roger Williams Park. The work will include improvements to the park’s entrances, new signage, expanded walkways and bicycle paths and repairs to the Museum of Natural History, the Bandstand, the Casino and the Temple to Music.

The Rhode Island Foundation is the largest and most comprehensive funder of nonprofit organizations in Rhode Island. In 2015, the Foundation awarded a record $41.5 million in grants to organizations addressing the state’s most pressing issues and needs of diverse communities. Through leadership, fundraising and grantmaking activities, often in partnership with individuals and organizations, the Foundation is helping Rhode Island reach its true potential.
