A holiday tradition of generousity
By Chris Barnett / December 6, 2017 /   Loading Disqus...

Our Providence Journal Holiday Fund is once again accepting donations to help children and teenagers in need this holiday season.

The goal is to make the season brighter for needy children within our community. Donations will provide basic essentials including clothing, toiletries, baby supplies, underwear and books.

Since the Providence Journal opened the fund with us in 2014, thousands of children have received gifts thanks to the generosity of its print and digital readers, building on a tradition that dates back to when the paper launched what was then called the Santa Fund in 1924.

“The holidays are a time for giving," says Publisher Janet Hasson. "Give back to your community this holiday season by ensuring that needy children receive warm clothing, diapers or new socks thanks to your donation. Even small gifts can make a big difference when our community unites to help others.”

The Journal provides in-kind print and digital advertising to make people aware of the fund and recognizes donors on providencejournal.com and in the Thursday edition of the newspaper. Information about donating is posted here.
