The 1916 Society: for Rhode Islanders who plan to leave a legacy

Proud Rhode Islanders Ray and Brenda Bolster talk about their partnership with The Rhode Island Foundation and the rewards they receive from giving back.

Members of The 1916 Society have made plans to contribute to Rhode Island's future by including the Foundation in their estate plans or by establishing a deferred gift that ultimately will become a permanent fund.

The 1916 Society provides a way for The Rhode Island Foundation to recognize and thank donors while they are living.

As a member of The 1916 Society, you can expect:

  • A relationship with the Foundation during your lifetime.  You will receive Foundation publications, including our newsletter describing grants and initiatives, and our annual Yearbook with updates on Foundation operations, including finances, profiles of donors, grants, and endowment funds.

  • Recognition on the elegant "Wall of Honor" seen by thousands of visitors to the Foundation every year.

  • Special mention in our Yearbook and website, and invitations to donor events and Foundation gatherings.

  • Access to Rhode Island Foundation grantmaking staff.

  • A confidential interview at your convenience to record your story, whether an individual, family, or company, and to discuss your hopes and expectations for the future use of your endowment.

  • If you prefer anonymity, we provide all the benefits of membership with the exception of public recognition during your lifetime.  The Foundation works with and respects the wishes of many donors who request anonymity.
