Guidelines for Using STARS
To complete a scholarship application via STARS, follow these guidelines and instructions:
- Applications must be completed by the applicant. Under no circumstances may parents, teachers, or counselors complete a scholarship application for a student.
- By submitting the online scholarship application, you are certifying that all information you have provided is true and complete to the best of your knowledge.
- You, the applicant, are authorizing the release of information on the application, as well as other necessary financial and academic information, to The Rhode Island Foundation and its scholarship selection committees.
- You will be asked a series of questions about your background, interests, and experiences. Your responses to these preliminary questions determine your eligibility for certain scholarships. Be sure to answer all questions honestly. Applicants that misrepresent themselves in any way will be disqualified.
- Applications are due by the stated deadlines, without exception.
- Applicants will usually be notified of the status of applications within about eight weeks of submission. Unfortunately, we must discourage telephone calls about the status of applications.
