The Kings first met at the Walker Home and School, a program serving younger children with severe emotional problems. Judi Alperin, a Providence native, was on an internship pursuing her master’s degree in psychology; Timothy King of Concord, MA was working there full-time with the children.
Years later their lives have changed considerably. Mr. King has been with Atlas Screw and Specialities in New Bedford for more than a decade; Mrs. King is juggling a dissertation with three children: Samantha, 9, Julie, 7, and Erica, 3.
Their commitment hasn’t changed, though. With this new donor-advised fund, Mrs. King expects “we will pursue charities related to children, particularly underprivileged children.”
