RDW Group Inc. Minority Scholarship Fund

RDW Group, one of New England’s largest full-service communications firms, established the RDW Group, Inc. Minority Scholarship Fund at the Foundation to support local college students who are pursuing degrees in the communications field.

“Our industry does not adequately mirror the community we serve. We need to become more diverse,” said RDW President Michael M. Doyle. “At RDW, we have always encouraged minority applicants, but have been discouraged by the response we have received. As corporate citizens, we feel it is important to encourage more young, talented people of diverse backgrounds to enter our profession. We hope to accomplish just that,” he said.

A five-member advisory committee including RDW Chairman Philip R. Rivers, RDW President Michael M. Doyle, RDW Executive Vice President Thomas E. Walsh Sr., Rhode Island Senator Charles D. Walton, and Lincoln School Head of School Joan C. Countryman, will annually recommend one student to the Foundation to receive a $2,000 scholarship toward college tuition and expenses.

For purposes of this scholarship, the field of communications is broadly defined to include graphic and fine arts and web development, as well as journalism, public relations, marketing and advertising.
