Can Anyone be a Philanthropist?
The answer is “Yes.” Philanthropy doesn't require great wealth and – at least through The Rhode Island Foundation – it isn’t complicated.
In 2006, generous Rhode Islanders directed $31 million to The Rhode Island Foundation.
Why? Because each one of them believed their Foundation could help them meet charitable goals. More than 50 individuals, families, and nonprofit organizations created such permanent endowments in 2006.
We are proud of our ability to accommodate your philanthropic objectives with a variety of flexible, tax-advantaged tools and options.
A special note: For many of us, our major gifts to charity will not be possible during our lifetime. Anyone who names The Rhode Island Foundation in their estate plan is welcomed into our Legacy Society, The 1916 Society.
And, finally, while we include the information needed to work through The Rhode Island Foundation, we always advise consulting your advisor before making a final decision, with or without us present.
