The 1916 Society provides a way for The Rhode Island Foundation to chronicle, recognize, and thank those of you who have made plans to establish an endowment in the future, whether through your estate plan or by establishing a deferred gift.
As a member, you can expect:
- A relationship with the Foundation now, during your lifetime. You will receive the Foundation's publications, including our newsletter describing all grants and initiatives, and our annual Yearbook with updates on all the Foundation's operations, including finances, profiles of donors, grants, and endowment funds.
- Inclusion on the handsome glass Wall of Honor seen by thousands of visitors to the Foundation every year.
- Special mention in our Yearbook and on our website as a member of The 1916 Society, and invitations to special events, as well as other Foundation gatherings.
- Access to Rhode Island Foundation Gift Planning Advisors for Society members and your financial advisors to discuss questions and concerns regarding estate and gift planning.
- Access to Rhode Island Foundation grantmaking staff usually reserved only for current Foundations donors.
- A confidential interview at your convenience to record the story of the giver, whether an individual, family, or company, and to discuss your hopes and expectations for the future use of your endowment. A written summary of the interview will be provided to you to ensure factual accuracy, and will be kept in the Foundation's permanent records, made public only when the endowment is established, or not at all, if that is your preference.
For those Society members who prefer anonymity, we provide all the benefits of membership with the exception of public recognition during the donor's lifetime. The Foundation currently works with many donors who have requested anonymity, and all their materials are kept entirely confidential.
