Other Funding Opportunities

 

Many generous Rhode Islanders have established permanent endowments which seek to fulfill a specific need, whether it is to support medical research, public service, animal humane issues, the arts, or any one of a number of other topics.

The following opportunities are available. Please note specific, individual deadlines.

Special Funding Opportunities identifies other programs from which you might receive support, such as the Women's Fund of Rhode Island, the Newport County Fund, Equity Action, and Hispanics in Philanthropy. (See Specials for additional information on these programs.)

 

Archive, Document, Display and Disseminate (ADDD) Fund - Media Project Grants
These grants assure greater access to information through archiving (cataloguing collections of videos, programs, performances, or publications), documenting (producing printed materials, DVDs, or other media to stimulate thoughtful discussion), displaying (audio-visual, graphic, or combined presentations), and/or disseminating (spreading information and/or newly produced materials through the media).
Application deadline: January 5, 2009; may also require consultation prior to November 7, 2008.

Archive, Document, Display and Disseminate (ADDD) Fund - Library Challenge Grants
These challenge grants are intended to provide added funding for library campaigns planned to meet local needs; support may be requested by any Rhode Island library or library support organization with 501(c)(3) status.
Application deadline: January 5, 2009.

Barrington District Nursing Association Fund
This fund supports programs that ensure the physical and mental health and well being of Barrington residents.  Application deadline: January 5, 2009.

Miss Swinburne Fund
This fund provides awards to nonprofit organizations that support the self-sufficiency and independence of girls and women in Newport County.  Application deadline: January 5, 2009.

Joseph O'Neill Ott Fund
This fund supports the preservation of historical manuscripts, documents, and municipal records dating from the 19th century and earlier for the smaller cities and towns in Rhode Island.  Application deadline: January 16, 2009.

Program for Animal Welfare
Six Foundation funds support animal humane education and treatment in Rhode Island. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis for Immediate Assistance Grants and Professional Development Mini-Grants.
