Cutting the red tape at DEM
By Connie Grosch / October 17, 2014 /   Loading Disqus...

The Department of Environmental Management (DEM) held a grand opening for its new Permit Application Center at its Promenade Street Headquarters in Providence. The Center is an outgrowth of DEM’s “Lean Government” initiative that is aimed at providing better customer service, promising 24-hour turn-around on completeness of applications.

“It’s a great example of a public/private partnership in action, as DEM works with the Rhode Island Foundation to change the way we do business,” says DEM Director Janet Coit. The project was partially funded with a $47,000 grant from the Foundation through its Make It Happen RI economic development initiative. Watch our video of Andy Manca, program and policy manager at DEM, talking about the changes.
