The MacColl Johnson Fellowships: Celebrating Ten Years
By Connie Grosch / January 23, 2015 /   Loading Disqus...

The MacColl Johnson fellowship program is considered to be one of the largest no-strings-attached awards available to artists in the United States, providing up to three fellowships each year, rotating among composers, writers and visual artists on a three-year cycle.

The $25,000 awards allow artists to concentrate time on the creative process, focus on personal or professional development, expand their body of work and explore new directions. In the last 9 years, 27 composers, writers and visual artists have received more than $675,000. We hear from six of these recipients as they talk about the impact of the fellowship on the evolution of their work and their career paths.
