Bisaccia-Naparstek Charitable Fund

“It takes work to get the right balance in your life,” says Robert Naparstek. That balance for Robert and his wife, Lisa Bisaccia, once was primarily between work and family. Now, with successful careers and two grown children, the balance is shifting. “Now we have the time and resources to give back. Many of our leisure activities are centered on civic interests. It’s a natural evolution for us,” Lisa states.

Raised in central Connecticut, Lisa earned an undergraduate degree at Trinity College and an MBA at the University of Connecticut. Her first job was in human resources at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, where she met Robert, then a resident at the hospital. A native of Queens, NY, he earned degrees at Queens College and the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium before obtaining his MD at Cornell University.

The couple married in 1983 and moved to Boston where Robert completed his rheumatology fellowship at Tufts-New England Medical Center. He pursued a career in public health, concentrating on occupational health and environmental medicine. He has consulted for the past several years, and now refers to himself as “pretty much retired."

Lisa advanced her career in human resources in the healthcare and financial services industries, including several years with FleetBoston Financial. She joined CVS Health in 2004 and currently is executive vice president and chief human resources officer.

Since moving to Providence in 2011, the couple has become deeply engaged in the community. Lisa has served on the boards of United Way of Rhode Island, Trinity Repertory, the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, and the Boys and Girls Club of America.  She serves on board committees for Care New England and Women & Infants Hospital. She recently was named by Governor Raimondo to chair the Career and Technical Education Trust.

Robert has served on the boards of Rhode Island Public Radio, the Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island, and Sophia Academy, and is the President-elect of the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra and Music School. He also volunteers at the Rhode Island Free Clinic, and both Lisa and Robert mentor Year Up young adults.

Of their community support, Robert says, “Philanthropy is a connection to the future. It’s psychologically rich and satisfying,” with Lisa adding, “And the Foundation provides a great vehicle for planning our philanthropic legacy.
