Coming this fall: learning opportunities for nonprofit staff and board members

Our Initiative for Nonprofit Excellence (INE) was established eight years ago to help build the capacity of our valuable nonprofit partners.

We believe strong leadership – at both the staff and board levels – is the cornerstone for nonprofit success and that a strong infrastructure means organizations have the capacity to deliver services more effectively.

We are excited to announce our lineup of fall programs that provides further opportunities for nonprofit staff and board members.

Nonprofit fundamental training series
This six-session series, for board members from all-volunteer organizations, addresses such topics as creating a strategic/business plan, governance and fund development, and creating/managing a budget; first session is September 15, 5:30 – 7:30 PM.

Peer learning network meetings for new executive directors
This monthly peer networking program is designed to help executive directors with less than one year of experience learn on the job and build out a network of peer support; first session is September 16, noon – 2 PM.

Fiscal sponsorship demystified
Panelists Kim Clark, Esq., Partridge, Snow & Hahn; Leo Pollock, RI Food Policy Council; Sandi Ross, CPA, KLR; and Jesse Rye, Farm Fresh RI, will explain fiscal sponsorship from a legal, fiduciary, and user perspective; October 14, 9 – 11 AM.

Introduction to nonprofit board service
I will explain basic roles and responsibilities of nonprofit board members and best practices for elevating board performance; October 19, 5:30 – 7:30 PM.

Peer learning network meetings for board chairs
These peer networking sessions are designed to help board chairs learn on the job and build out a network of peer support; first session is October 27, 9 – 11 AM.
