Professional advisors help inspire philanthropy

We at the Foundation have had the great pleasure of working with so many professional advisors and their charitable clients committed to Rhode Island. These accountants, attorneys, wealth advisors, and other planning professionals play a critical role as trusted advisors to their clients, a role that includes guiding and inspiring client philanthropy.

Over the years, many of the Foundation’s professional advisor “ambassadors” have been members of our Professional Advisory Council (PAC). Our PAC has consistently provided us with invaluable input and guidance as to how we may better serve our donors and Rhode Island’s communities. The PAC has been instrumental in helping advance the Foundation’s mission to meet the needs of Rhode Islanders. We are proud to count well over one hundred of the state’s top planning professionals among those who have served on our PAC since its inception more than twenty years ago.

Recently, at our annual Professional Advisor Appreciation Breakfast, we had the pleasure of honoring five outgoing members of PAC and welcoming six new professionals to the group. It was an honor and pleasure to work with outgoing members Melissa Burnett-Testa, Martha Conn Hultzman, Jose Lopes, Joe Roszkowski, and Jamie Worrell. We are extremely grateful for their contributions toward inspiring philanthropy in Rhode Island. We appreciate Melissa Burnett-Testa, of Howland Evangelista Kohlenberg Burnett, for her service as our outgoing Council Chair.

I am also excited to welcome six new members to the PAC. Our newest Council members hail from various Rhode Island communities and bring with them a breadth and depth of professional expertise:

  • Susan Gershkoff, Esq.
    Law Office of Susan Gershkoff
  • Gerald Iadeluca, CPA, MST
    Citrin Cooperman
  • Donna Madden, Esq.
    Sullivan & Sullivan P.C.
    North Kingstown
  • David Matarese, CPA/PFS, CFP
    Corrigan Financial, Inc.
  • Dana Pickard, Esq.
    Howland Evangelista Kohlenberg Burnett
  • Yahaira “Jay” Placencia
    U.S. Trust

Finally, we are pleased to welcome veteran Council member Alan H. Litwin, CPA, managing director of KLR, as Council chair. We look forward to more opportunities to work with our PAC and professional advisors statewide to inspire philanthropy.
