A cultural treasure at Roger Williams Park
By Connie Grosch / August 16, 2018 /   Loading Disqus...

More than 7,000 people joined us at Roger Williams Park last week for a wonderful celebration of community – a free concert by the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra. The evening showcased one of our state’s cultural treasures in one of our best-loved places for the people of Rhode Island.

Blankets and lawn chairs spilled down the hillsides to the foot of the Temple to Music. The highlights of the two-hour program included rousing standards like the Star Spangled Banner and the 1812 Overture and fun favorites such as the Harry’s Wondrous World theme from the Harry Potter movies. There was even a sparkling surprise during the finale. For anyone who couldn’t make it, there are plenty of photos to make the evening come alive again.
